![]() I am a Learning Skills Counsellor and Instructor, primarily based at the Lansdowne campus at Camosun College. |
It’s my privilege to help students succeed in their studies at Camosun College. Through my experience as a student, as an instructor, and as a Learning Skills counsellor, I have learned the importance of a strategic approach to learning. We all know of students who don’t succeed, despite being “smart” (whatever that is). We also know of students who don’t succeed despite working very hard, sometimes too hard. While being “smart” and working hard are helpful, it is essential to know how to be a student—and many, many students struggle because they’ve not yet learned that. That's where Learning Skills comes in! My primary areas of interest in Learning Skills are self-regulation and self-efficacy: the belief that we can succeed at a certain task. These areas, I believe, are the foundation for becoming a successful student. |
